Privacy policy
What we collect on this website, on the forms and tools, and in the Skyline platform, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.
Effective October 3, 2026. Last updated October 3, 2026. Questions: [email protected], (360) 719-5660.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Skyline Transport Group LLC ("Skyline", "we", "us" or "our") is a family-owned motor carrier and licensed property broker, USDOT 2363186, with its principal office at 6110 NE 152nd Ave, Suite 101, Vancouver, Washington 98682 and offices in Sacramento, California and Austin, Texas.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information when you visit shipskyline.com (the "Site"), use the forms, tools and chat assistant on the Site, apply for a job, set up as a carrier, or use the Skyline platform, our transportation management system and customer portal (the "Platform"). It also explains the choices and rights you have.
This policy does not cover information we process under a signed broker-shipper agreement, broker-carrier agreement, rate confirmation or other contract, except where it says so. Those agreements control how shipment and commercial information is handled between the parties. Information about our own employees is covered by a separate employee notice.
By using the Site or the Platform you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site or the Platform.
2. The short version
- We collect what you type into our forms, what we need to verify carriers and run freight, and the technical information every website receives, such as your IP address.
- We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and the Site runs no advertising or analytics trackers.
- Every form submission is saved on our web server and delivered to our team by email through our Google Workspace account.
- The chat assistant runs in your browser. Nothing you type in it reaches us unless you submit a form inside it.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected].
3. Information we collect
The table below lists the categories of personal information we collect, with examples, where it comes from, and why we collect it. We collect only what is reasonably necessary for the purposes described.

Information we do not ask for
We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank account or card numbers, health information, or precise device location through the Site, and we ask you not to send them. Banking details for carrier payment are collected only after approval, outside the Site, and verified by a callback to the phone number on the FMCSA record. If you are a sole proprietor and your EIN is also your Social Security number, please call us instead of typing it into a form.
If we proceed with a driver applicant, background checks required by federal motor carrier rules, such as a motor vehicle record, Pre-Employment Screening Program report and a Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse query, are requested only with separate written disclosures and your authorization, as the Fair Credit Reporting Act and FMCSA regulations require.
4. How we collect information
- Directly from you, when you fill in a quote, contact, call-back, carrier setup, job application or newsletter form, use the chat assistant's forms, email or call us, or use the Platform.
- Automatically, when your browser requests pages from the Site. Our hosting provider and our content delivery and security provider receive standard request information such as your IP address. The Site itself does not use analytics or advertising tools.
- From public sources, such as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's carrier records when you enter a USDOT or MC number.
- From third parties, such as your insurance agent, carriers and their tracking providers, references you list, background screening providers you authorize, and services you connect to the Platform.
5. How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and call-back requests, prepare quotes, and arrange, dispatch, track and invoice shipments.
- To set up, verify and re-verify carriers, including checking authority, insurance and safety status at onboarding and at every tender, and to pay carriers.
- To consider job applications, communicate with applicants and meet employment and DOT recordkeeping duties.
- To provide, maintain, secure and support the Site and the Platform, including authentication, logging and integrations you enable.
- To detect, prevent and respond to fraud, double brokering, cargo theft, identity theft, spam and other abuse.
- To send service messages about your shipments, account or application, and, if you sign up, our newsletter.
- To handle claims, disputes and audits, enforce our agreements, and comply with law, regulation and legal process.
- To improve our services and the Site, using information in aggregated or de-identified form where practical.
We do not use personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. The carrier setup form screens the FMCSA record for inactive authority, out-of-service orders and unacceptable safety ratings; when it stops an application, a person reviews it on request.
6. How our forms work
When you submit a form, it is sent over an encrypted connection to our web server. The server first saves the submission, including any file you attach, the page you sent it from, your IP address and the date and time, in a folder that is not accessible from the web. It then sends the submission to our team's inbox through our Google Workspace account, using a Google Apps Script service we control.
If your connection drops before a submission reaches us, your browser keeps a copy in its local storage and resends it automatically the next time you visit. The copy is removed once it is delivered. See the Cookie Policy for details.
7. The chat assistant
The chat assistant on the Site is automated and scripted. It runs entirely in your browser, does not use an outside artificial intelligence service, and does not send your conversation to us or anyone else. When you close it, the conversation is gone. The only exception is a form you choose to submit inside the chat, which is handled like every other form on the Site. Please do not type sensitive information such as Social Security, bank or card numbers into the chat.
8. Free tools and lookups
Carrier authority lookup
When you enter a USDOT, MC or FF number on the carrier setup form, the number is sent to our server, which retrieves the matching public record from the FMCSA, either from its Motor Carrier Census data published on data.transportation.gov or from its QCMobile service. The result is shown to you and, if you submit the form, included with your submission.
Groundtruth
Groundtruth runs in your browser. The locations you enter are sent directly from your browser to public data services to calculate routes and conditions: the Valhalla routing service operated on OpenStreetMap infrastructure in Germany, the National Weather Service, and FMCSA census data on data.transportation.gov. We do not receive your lane list unless you choose to send it to us through a form.
9. Cookies and browser storage
The public Site sets no advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other sites. It uses a few strictly necessary browser storage items, for example to remember your language choice and to hold an unsent form, and our employee resources area uses a session cookie. Our Cookie Policy lists every item, what it does and how long it lasts.
10. How we share information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Service providers that process information for us under contract, including our web hosting provider (GoDaddy), our content delivery and security provider (Cloudflare), and our email and productivity provider (Google Workspace), plus providers of phone, texting, document, accounting and background screening services.
- Carriers, shippers, consignees, warehouses and other parties to a shipment, to the extent needed to move, track, document and invoice it.
- Factoring companies a carrier designates, insurers, insurance agents and adjusters, for payment, coverage and claims.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants and auditors, under duties of confidentiality.
- Government agencies, courts and law enforcement, when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Skyline, our customers, carriers, drivers or the public, including reporting suspected cargo theft or fraud.
- A buyer, successor or financing party in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this policy.
- Anyone else with your direction or consent.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
11. Outside services that load in your browser
Some pages load content from outside providers. When they do, your browser connects to that provider, which receives your IP address and standard request information under its own privacy policy. We do not control these providers and they do not receive your form entries.
- Google Fonts (Google LLC), for typefaces.
- unpkg.com, for open-source code libraries the Site runs on.
- CARTO and Esri (ArcGIS), for map tiles on pages with maps.
- The Valhalla routing service on OpenStreetMap infrastructure and the National Weather Service, for Groundtruth.
- Google Translate, only if you choose to view the Site through Google's translation service.
Links to other websites, such as LinkedIn, FMCSA or industry sources, are plain links. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites.
12. Text messages
If you give us a mobile number for a shipment, an account or an application, we may text you about that shipment, account or application. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help, or contact us. We do not send marketing texts without your separate consent, and we do not share mobile numbers or text messaging consent with third parties for their marketing.
13. Email
We email you about requests you make, shipments, your account or your application. If you sign up for our newsletter, we will send it until you unsubscribe using the link in any issue or by emailing [email protected]. Service messages are not affected by unsubscribing from the newsletter.
14. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, tax, insurance and regulatory requirements, then delete or de-identify it. Typical periods:
| Record | Retention |
|---|---|
| Inquiries, quote requests and call-backs that do not become business | Up to 24 months after the last contact |
| Shipment, rate confirmation, billing and claims records | At least the three years federal broker rules require, and generally up to seven years for tax, contract and claims purposes |
| Carrier onboarding, verification and agreement records | For the relationship and up to seven years after the last load |
| Job applications | Up to four years after the hiring decision, as federal and state employment rules require, unless you are hired |
| Newsletter subscriptions | Until you unsubscribe |
| Server and security logs | Typically up to 12 months, longer when needed to investigate an incident |
| Platform account data | For the life of the account, then as set out in the Platform Terms |
| Unsent form copies in your browser | Until delivered, or until you clear your browser storage |
We may keep information longer when the law requires it, when it is needed for a claim, dispute or investigation, or under a legal hold.
15. How we protect information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the size of our business, including encrypted connections, form archives stored outside the public web folder, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, secured session cookies and rate limits on staff sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and regulators as the law requires.
16. Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we process your personal information and give you access to it, or a copy of it in a portable format;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information we hold about you;
- stop sending you marketing emails or texts.
To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject "Privacy request", call (360) 719-5660, or write to us at the address above. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need up to 45 more days and why. To protect you, we verify requests by matching the details you give us with the information we hold, and we may ask for more information to do so. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of the agent's authority and verify your identity directly.
We may decline or limit a request where the law allows, for example where we must keep records for legal, tax, safety or claims purposes, or where a request would reveal another person's information. If we decline, we will explain why. You may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject "Privacy appeal", and we will respond within 60 days. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact your state attorney general.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
17. Additional information for California residents
This section applies to California residents, including job applicants and business contacts, to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (the "CCPA"), applies to us. It supplements the rest of this policy.
Notice at collection
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information as defined by the CCPA: identifiers; customer records information under Cal. Civ. Code 1798.80(e); commercial information; internet or other electronic network activity information; geolocation data limited to shipment location during active loads on the Platform; audio or electronic information such as call and text records; professional or employment-related information; and inferences we draw only to evaluate an application or a carrier. Sources, purposes and retention periods are described in the sections above.
Sensitive personal information
We do not seek sensitive personal information through the Site. To the extent we receive it, for example account credentials for the Platform or driver's license information from a driver applicant, we use it only for purposes permitted by the CCPA, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you.
Disclosures for a business purpose
In the past 12 months we have disclosed each category above to the service providers, contractors and other recipients described in "How we share information", for the business purposes described in this policy.
Sale and sharing
We do not sell or share personal information, including of consumers under 16, and have not done so in the past 12 months. Because we do not sell or share, we do not offer a "Do Not Sell or Share" link.
Your California rights
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information where applicable, and the right not to be retaliated against for exercising these rights. Use the methods in "Your rights and choices".
Shine the Light
California Civil Code 1798.83 lets California residents ask about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. We do not make such disclosures.
18. Residents of other states
Residents of Texas, Colorado, Virginia, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws may have rights similar to those above to the extent those laws apply to us. We extend the rights in "Your rights and choices" to every visitor, wherever they live. We do not process personal information for targeted advertising, sale or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
We do not collect consumer health data as defined in Washington's My Health My Data Act.
19. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Because we do not sell or share personal information or use targeted advertising, a Global Privacy Control signal or Do Not Track setting does not change how the Site handles your information. We honor Global Privacy Control as a valid opt-out request where the law requires.
20. Job applicants
We use applicant information only to evaluate and process applications, communicate with you, and meet legal requirements. Hiring decisions are made by people. Skyline is an equal opportunity employer. We do not request information about protected characteristics through our application forms. If you are hired, our employee notice will apply to your information from then on.
21. Children
The Site and the Platform are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
22. Visitors outside the United States
We operate in the United States and serve shipments within the 48 contiguous states. Information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. Groundtruth sends the locations you enter to a routing service hosted in Germany, as described above. If you use the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed under United States law.
23. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information we already hold, we will give notice on the Site or by email before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
